Family Mediation
From Conflict to Collaboration: Helping Separated Parents Reach Child-Focused Agreements Through Mediation

From Conflict to Collaboration
Helping Separated Parents Reach Child-Focused Agreements Through Mediation
Considering Family Mediation?

As a therapist, I work closely with individuals and families navigating significant life transitions, and separation or co-parenting changes are often among the most emotionally demanding of these. Therapy offers space to process thoughts, feelings, and patterns, but over time, I’ve come to see that some families also need a practical, solution-focused approach to move forward with clarity.
That’s why I also offer a separate mediation service, Tandem Mediation, for parents who want to make child-centred, realistic agreements during or after separation.

Why Consider Mediation?

Separation affects every member of the family. When emotions run high, it can be difficult to communicate effectively or make decisions in a way that feels fair and constructive. Mediation provides a safe, neutral space to have these conversations. It's not therapy, and it's not about who’s right or wrong - it’s about working together to find solutions that support your children and reduce ongoing conflict.
Whether you're just starting to separate, have been co-parenting for a while, or are experiencing changes in your family setup, mediation can help you reach agreements that are practical, respectful, and focused on the future.

How Mediation Complements Therapy

Therapy and mediation serve different, but often complementary, purposes. Therapy focuses on emotional processing, personal growth, and relational patterns. Mediation focuses on reaching agreements, whether that's creating a parenting plan, deciding how holidays are shared, or improving how you communicate about the children.
If you're already working with me in therapy, we can discuss whether mediation might be a helpful next step. If you're not in therapy, you're still welcome to access mediation as a separate service.
