About Me

Jo Watson Relationship Psychotherapist Couples Counsellor

BACP-Accredited Relationship Therapy for Individuals and Couples

I am a qualified Relationship Psychotherapist and Integrative Therapist, and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I offer professional relationship therapy and counselling for adults and couples who are experiencing communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, conflict, trust issues, or repeating relationship patterns. My work is grounded in evidence-based therapeutic practice and delivered within the BACP Ethical Framework, providing a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental space for change.

A Supportive and Compassionate Approach to Therapy

Reaching out for support takes courage, and finding the right relationship therapist can feel daunting. Counselling can be a deeply transformative experience, helping you develop greater self-awareness and understand how past experiences, attachment patterns, and emotional responses shape your relationships today. Through our work together, we can gently explore what may be holding you back, strengthen emotional safety, improve communication, and support you in moving towards more fulfilling, authentic, and connected relationships.

Training

Experienced and BACP Accredited Therapist

I am a qualified integrative therapist and relationship psychotherapist, and an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). Being an integrative therapist means I tailor the therapeutic approach to your individual needs, rather than working rigidly within one model. My core training includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Therapy, Transactional Analysis (TA), and Person-Centred Therapy, allowing us to work both practically and reflectively, depending on what feels most helpful for you and your relationships.

I also hold a specialist qualification in trauma therapy, including work with survivors of rape and sexual abuse. My training ensures that I work in a way that prioritises emotional safety, stability, and consent, supporting you without re-traumatisation. Trauma can affect how we function in daily life and relationships, but I believe that no matter what we have been through, we are not trapped by our past. Counselling can help you access your internal strengths, build resilience, and move towards growth and healing. If you are a survivor of sexual, emotional, physical, or domestic abuse, your safety and wellbeing are always at the core of my work.

In addition, I have postgraduate specialist training in relationship psychotherapy, enabling me to support a wide range of relationship issues, including communication difficulties, emotional disconnection, conflict, and recurring patterns. My relationship therapy training includes models such as the Developmental Model, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), the Gottman Method, as well as psychodynamic and behavioural approaches. This training also includes progressive and inclusive frameworks, supporting work with non-traditional and diverse relationship structures, ensuring relationship therapy is relevant, respectful, and affirming.

My Experience

Experience in Online Relationship Therapy, Trauma, and Complex Dynamics

My experience includes working within the NHS as a Health Coach, counselling agencies, private practice, and voluntary sector services. I hold a specialist qualification in trauma therapy, including work with survivors of rape and sexual abuse, and I practise online therapy in a trauma-aware way that prioritises emotional safety, stability, consent, and choice, without re-traumatisation.

Trauma can significantly affect emotional wellbeing, trust, intimacy, and relationships. Online therapy can offer a contained and empowering space to explore these experiences at your own pace.

Alongside my psychotherapy work, I am also a qualified Family Mediator, which strengthens my ability to support clients navigating relationship conflict, communication breakdowns, separation, and complex family dynamics. I also have experience working with neurodivergent clients, including individuals with ADHD, autism, and dyspraxia, and I adapt my online therapeutic approach to suit different ways of thinking, processing, and relating.

Is Online Relationship Therapy Right for You?

If you are looking for a qualified, BACP-accredited online relationship therapist, I offer professional online relationship counselling that is thoughtful, compassionate, and tailored to your needs. Whether you are attending therapy alone or as a couple, my aim is to provide a collaborative and emotionally safe online space where insight, connection, and lasting change can develop.

I am always happy to answer any questions you may have.

I look forward to hearing from you!
